BlueCrystal Phase 3

Phase 3 is available to all users.

Who should use Phase 3?

Phase 3 is a capability machine and priority will be given to large memory jobs and jobs requiring large numbers of GPUS or cores.

Hardware

BlueCrystal Phase 3 has the following specification:

  • 223 base blades which have 16 x 2.6 GHz SandyBridge cores, 4GB/core and a 1TB SATA disk.
  • There are an additional 100 identical nodes that can host dual GPGPUs. At present we have 76 NVIDIA K20 in 38 nodes.
  • 18 large memory nodes each containing 256GB of memory and 16 processors. Some can operate as stand alone systems and some can be configured as required to emulate a virtual SMP with up to 4TB RAM usable using ScaleMP software.

The Bright Cluster Manager user manual is available for download.

Software

A list of software installed on Phase 3 is available.

User Guide

Users should refer to the BlueCrystal User Guide.

If you cannot resolve a problem or there is an error on the system, please email hpc-help@bristol.ac.uk, rather than one of the System Administrators, with details of the problem and the project code. Further details are available on the Support page. Please note that if you need advice on using the UoB VPN to access BlueCrystal from home, you should contact your departmental support officers.
