Descriptions

BLAS or Basic Linear Algebra Subprograms are routines that provide standard building blocks for performing basic vector and matrix operations.

PBLAS is the parallel distributed memory version of BLAS.

CBLAS provides a C interface to the BLAS routines.

LAPACK, the Linear Algebra PACKage, provides routines for solving systems of simultaneous linear equations, eigenvalue problems, and singular value problems.

ScaLAPACK or Scalable LAPACK includes a subset of LAPACK routines redesigned for distributed memory MIMD parallel computers.

MPI BLACS or Basic Linear Algebra Communication Subprograms is aiming to create a linear algebra-oriented MPI that may be implemented across a large range of distributed memory platforms.
